Georgia Winter Hummingbird Report for 2002-2003

It was a great year for winter hummers.  We ended the season with a record high number of reports 123!  As more people realize that they can feed hummingbirds year round in Georgia this number will probably keep increasing.  Thanks for all of your help in gathering this data on wintering hummingbirds in Georgia.

The breakdown of species for the 2002-2003 winter season is as follows:

Ruby-throated Hummingbird - 3

Black-chinned Hummingbird - 4

Calliope Hummingbird - 5  (11th -15th State Record)

Rufous Hummingbird - 41

Allen's Hummingbird - 1  (9th State Record)

Unknown Hummingbird Species - 69
