Our Mission

The Georgia Hummer Study Group, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to promote conservation of hummingbirds through studies and public education of hummingbirds in Georgia.

Our Objectives

Document the occurrences of wintering hummingbirds in the state of Georgia.

Study site fidelity for hummingbirds wintering in Georgia.

Study the habitat preferences exhibited by winter hummingbirds in landscapes of Georgia.

Study the chronology of the migration of the Ruby-throated Hummingbird to and through Georgia.

Assist in determining migration pathways of Ruby-throated Hummingbirds

Study the habitat preferences exhibited by Ruby-throated Hummingbirds in landscapes of Georgia.

Study ecology of the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds and use this information to develop management practices.

Educate the public about hummingbird conservation, feeding hummingbirds, and how to improve landscaping to attract hummingbirds.

Inform ornithologists and the public about the results of our studies.
